According to the police, unknown perpetrators drilled a hole leading to the vault of the Sparkasse bank. They broke through a thick wall and then ransacked the safe deposit boxes. The fire alarm went off only after some time, which allowed the thieves to act calmly. Police suspect that water was used during drilling to reduce dust and heat.

“They must have had appropriate technical knowledge. The drill they used is not available in an ordinary DIY store. The Sparkasse branch has been closed since Christmas Eve, which was not a coincidence,” emphasized the police spokesman, quoted by “Bild”.

It has already been established that the perpetrators broke through several thousand bank safe deposit boxes, and preliminary estimates indicate losses of several million euros.
