Two finalists from the World Championship were awarded by the mayor of Râmnicu Vâlcea for their “contribution to the community”

Anniken Wollik (28 years old), the world champion, and Julia Maidhof (27 years old), the world vice champion, players in Romania at SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, were awarded on Monday, December 29, by Mircia Gutău, the mayor of the city of Vâlcea, for their performances with their national teams.
On December 14, the Women's Handball World Championship ended with the duel between Norway and Germany, the best teams of the tournament organized in Holland and Germany. The Germans offered a serious reply, but the Norwegians proved their superiority and, in the end, they won 23-20, getting the gold medals.

The League of Flowers had two representatives in the final of the World Championship, both from SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea. It is about Anniken Wollik, the left winger of Norway, and Julia Maidhof, the right winger of Germany.
Monday, December 29, in a ceremony organized at the Râmnicu Vâlcea City Hall, the mayor Mircia Gutău awarded the two players, giving them a special distinction “in appreciation for their contribution to the community”.
Wollik and Maidhof each received a festive plaque and a bouquet of flowers, and Florentin Pera, the head coach of SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea, also participated in the celebration.

In the World Final, Wollik scored twice, while Maidhof failed to get his name on the scoresheet.
The main scorers of the winner were Henny Reistad and Thale Deila, each with 5 goals. On the other side, Viola Leuchter, Alina Grijseels and Emily Vogel stood out, with 4 goals each.
In total, Wollik collected 31 goals for the Norwegian national teamscoring 6 goals in two games, the one against Kazakhstan and the one against the Czech Republic.
In contrast, Maidhof did not have as important a role in the German national team, so she collected only 5 goalstwo each with Uruguay and Serbia and one with Montenegro.
