FIFA is accelerating its entry into the world of video games. After a first foray into the Roblox platform, the world football forum announces a partnership with Netflix to launch a new game under the “FIFA” brand, ahead of the World Cup in 2026. But, surprise, it is moving away from traditional consoles, notes capital.fr!
FIFA is expanding its gaming presence with a new partnership with Netflix, aiming to launch a video game ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which kicks off on June 11. The project, previously confirmed by Gianni Infantino, marks a new stage after the break with Electronic Arts two years ago, which rebranded the series as EA Sports FC. Unlike classic games, on console or PC, the title developed with Netflix will tackle a different genre, being adapted to streaming/mobile platforms.
The profile publications wrote that EA and FIFA broke the collaboration because the international forum would have asked for 300 million per year as a royalty.
Netflix has refocused its strategy to focus mainly on mobile games and multiplayer “party games” with the aim of enriching its offering. With these two new partnerships, FIFA aims to enter a completely new era.
FIFA has also recently turned its attention to the Roblox platform, which is very popular among children and teenagers. This company offers a series of mini-games, including “Super League Soccer”, which has 9.5 million monthly active users, and which will soon be renamed “Fifa Super Soccer”.

Video game giant EA sold for $55 billion
Electronic Arts (EA), one of the largest video game companies in the world, has been sold for $55 billion. The consortium of buyers includes Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake and Affinity Partners, a firm owned by Jared Kushner, according to bbc.com.
EA has been responsible for some of the biggest game series in history. Its football titles, now known as EA FC, have sold 325 million copies since their first release in 1993.
