Kursk authorities refused to allow residents of Sudzha to pay for new housing, fearing that this would cause a mass outflow of the working-age population
In a letter from the head of the regional Ministry of Construction, Alexander Afonin, sent to local authorities, it is stated that issuing certificates is “inappropriate”, since payment measures were developed before the onset of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The evacuation affected more than 150 thousand people in eight districts of the region, and the payments, according to officials, could exacerbate the problem of people leaving, which would weaken the region's economy.
Afonin proposed postponing the resolution of the issue until “the end of the CTO regime.” After this, the deputies turned to the prosecutor’s office, demanding that they “eliminate the violation of current legislation.” The press service of the governor of the Kursk region stated that they are familiar with the situation and are right now preparing an official comment on the current situation.
