The WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) has announced its intention to fight for users from Russia. Representatives of the messenger intend to challenge its blocking in the country, Reuters reports.

The company said that in Russia the service is used by about 100 million people from different regions. In this regard, the company is going to not only file complaints about the unblocking of the messenger in the country, but also appeal the charges brought by law enforcement agencies.

“We are committed to fighting for our users,” WhatsApp said.

Representatives of the platform also emphasized that in the messenger, which, according to the administration, is deeply rooted in the life of every community in the country, Russian users create many chats. Many Russians simply do not want to give up work and thematic chats in which they spend a lot of time, the company indicated.
