Over time, even the most well-kept bathtub loses its original shine: cloudy stains, a yellowish coating and traces of tap water appear.
Don't rush to buy expensive cleaning products. There is a proven cheap method that experienced housewives use.
Cleaning method for steel, cast iron and marble bathtubs
- Lightly moisten the surface of the bathtub with water.
- Apply Whiteness gel to the walls and bottom. Pay special attention to the joints with the wall, taps and drains, where the most dirt accumulates.
- Spread the product over the entire surface with a soft sponge or cloth.
- Leave for 5-10 minutes. Do not let the composition dry out.
- Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Use cool or warm water, as hot water will intensify the strong chlorine smell.
Special care for acrylic bathtubs
For acrylic, chlorine-containing products are dangerous, as they can damage the surface, making it rough. Use citric acid instead.
1. A gentle way to clean acrylic
- Close the drain and fill the bathtub with warm water.
- Dissolve 4-5 tbsp in water. l. citric acid.
- Leave for 6-8 hours (overnight is possible).
- Drain the water and wash the bathtub with regular detergent.
2. A quick way to clean an acrylic bathtub
- Dissolve 1-2 sachets of citric acid in 2 liters of hot water.
- Moisten the walls and bottom of the bath generously with the resulting solution.
- After 20-30 minutes, rub the surface with a soft sponge and rinse.
Universal homemade “cocktail” for complex stains
If the plaque is very old, prepare a powerful but safe remedy.
- Mix 2 tbsp. l. citric acid, 100 ml table vinegar and 1 tbsp. l. dishwashing gel or liquid soap.
- Apply to a damp surface, leave for 10-15 minutes, then rub with the soft side of the sponge and rinse thoroughly.
To keep your bathtub looking great longer, rinse it with cool water after each use and avoid using abrasive powders or hard brushes.
This simple and cost-effective approach will help restore your bathtub to its factory shine without any extra cost or effort.
