Donald Tusk and Viktor Orban on Russian assets

Donald Tusk provides completely different information on his X profile, according to which “There is still a possibility of using frozen Russian assets.”

“Despite the excessive caution of some leaders, Europe has decided to finance Ukraine,” we read in Tusk's post.

“Am I fully satisfied? Of course not. But it is always better to have something than nothing,” writes the Polish Prime Minister, referring to the decision of EU leaders who decided to finance aid for Ukraine from loans instead of frozen Russian assets.

It's about the decision providing financial support to Ukraine in the form of a loan in the amount of EUR 90 billion for the next two years. The money will come from common debt guaranteed by the EU budget, and not – as was sought by, among others, Poland – from frozen Russian assets in Europe.

During a press conference after the summit in Brussels, Donald Tusk said that Russian assets will be used as security for a loan granted to Ukraine by the European Union. — There is a decision to use Russian assets as security for this loan. We will receive this money back from Ukraine, and Ukraine will receive this money to repay the loan from frozen Russian assets, he explained.
