The main builder of airships in Russia, Alexander Kirilin, has died.
As Mash learned, he suffered from cancer. Yesterday morning an ambulance was called for him, but he refused hospitalization. He died in the evening.
Alexander Kirilin was known as the main popularizer of airships. He also served as president and general designer of Aerostatics JSC. Before SVO, he proposed projects for super-heavy balloons with engines that could be used to transport oil equipment to distant regions of Siberia.
Now his airships are used to relay radio signals and target weapons in the zone of a special military operation.
