Mayor Vergil Chițac from PNL claims that the stadium in Constanța will be the first to start construction work, among those approved by the Government. But the money is missing!
Even though more than two years have passed since the demolition of the old arena in Primaverii street, in Constanța the work on the new stadium has not yet started. In vain, both the Mayor of Constanța, Vergil Chițac, and the president of the Constanța Lighthouse, Gică Popescu, have been advancing certain deadlines. ANYone has not been followed, nor is there any definite date for the commencement of construction, although all the papers have been approved.
But the money is missing, after the Romanian Government announced that it will not give a single leu for the stadiums until January 1, 2027, and the only chance for the works to start next year is for the local authorities to contribute at least 25 percent of the total investment budget. In Pitesti, the City Council has already approved the project in this regard. And the City Hall of Sector 2 in Bucharest voted the decision by which it will support a quarter of the amount needed to erect the Dinamo stadium.
In Constanța, for the moment, there is only an older decision, by which the local authorities make available around 13 percent of the almost 100 million euros, the total cost of the sports complex where Farul Constanța would play.

Despite this delay, Mayor Vergil Chițac made a new promise, which will be very difficult to fulfill. “The works will start next year, in the first part of the year. And the first to start among all the eight approved by Government Decision will be in Constanța”, the mayor told Dotto TV.
At the same time, he admitted that he intends to co-opt the Constanța County Council in this project, because the amount is difficult to support only from the local budget.
“Precisely from the perspective of the fact that the pressures on the City Hall's budget are high, for projects like the stadium, which serve not only the people of Constanta from the city, but from the entire Constanța county, let's collaborate together and see how much they, from the county, can support from this co-financing, which is not small at all. We are talking about about 90 million lei,” said Vergil Chițac for the cited source.
Vergil Chițac is challenged by Farului fans: they chanted against him at several matches

The several times the postponement of the start of the work on the new stadium has been severely taxed by Farul fans. At several matches played at the sports base of the Hagi Academy, “Peluza Marină” chanted against the Mayor of Constanța, Vergil Chițac, and displayed banners demanding that the team return to Constanța as soon as possible.
At the same time, at the small arena in Ovidiu, the white-blue officials displayed the message “Home soon!”, both on the fence that surrounds the sports base and on the scoreboard, from the moment the new stadium was approved.
