A 41-year-old resident of Krasnoyarsk will stand trial for stealing a phone on the street.
According to the police, the crime was committed in mid-October of this year. A 22-year-old girl left work and headed towards home, but along the way she lost her phone worth 30 thousand rubles. The surveillance camera recorded how the gadget fell out of the jacket pocket of the Krasnoyarsk woman and was immediately picked up by a man walking behind.

“Law enforcement officers identified the suspect and detained him. He turned out to be a previously unconvicted local resident. He saw a passerby's phone fall on the street, waited until she moved away, picked up the gadget from the ground and tried to unlock it, but it didn't work, and the man threw it into the garbage chute on his way home. During the investigation, he compensated for the material damage in full,” the police said.
A criminal case was opened against the attacker under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”, which provides for the following types of punishment: a fine of up to 200 thousand rubles; or compulsory, corrective or forced labor; or imprisonment for up to 5 years. The investigation has now been completed, and the court will soon consider the materials.
