Behind that important step, however, lay a deep commitment to the mother figure, one that Boloni says he has never forgotten. The Romanian coach has only words of respect and admiration for his mother, Ilona Boloni, who turned 101 on September 13.

Boloni: “My mother was very angry when I left the country”

Boloni's mother currently lives in Hernad, Hungary, about 30 kilometers from Budapest, with her eldest son, Istvan Boloni, aged 76. She was never alone, even if life tested her strength, having to raise her children with impressive strength of character after the death of her husband.

When Ladislau Boloni decided to go abroad, his mother's reaction marked him deeply, and the promise made then became a personal covenant. An emotional detail from the life of a huge name in Romanian football, which shows that, beyond career and trophies, family values always came first.

My mother was very upset when I left the country, to the West, especially to France, because she didn't like France. And he kept saying: “I lost you, I lost you!”. And I promised him: “Don't worry, I'm going to buy a house here, near you.”

Which I did, thank God, and she is present now. And now they are fighting me and my brother. But she always makes me food, which I put in the freezer. Then I take it out when I want to eat…“, explained Ladislau Boloni, according to iAMsport.

The touching confession of Ladislau Bolonia

Ladislau Boloni speaks with emotion and respect about his mother, the woman who was his support and example of life in the hardest moments. Ilona Boloni went through many trials, working for years at the Târnăveni Cooperative, where she made rubber football balls, and taking care of her sick father-in-law for a long time.

Her strength and devotion made her a true role model for his youngest son. There is also an emotional ritual between the two, kept every time they see each other again. Boloni lies down on the sofa, his legs in his mother's lap, and Ilona massages his soles until the former footballer falls asleep.

For me, my mother is a lioness. As for the kids, my brother and me. So she really sacrificed her life for the children's success. And I think so, certainly, with our thanks, that her bet succeeded.

Her children needed to get a degree, to have a better, more peaceful life. My brother is a doctor, I finished Medicine“, added Ladislau Boloni, the source mentioned earlier also shows.
