“Russia's most valuable frozen asset.” Harsh words from Ukraine about Orban


Sybiha shared Orban's post on his X account, in which he complains about the Community's policy: “Bypassing Hungary and breaking European law in broad daylight, Brussels is taking steps to seize frozen Russian assets – this is a declaration of war. At the same time, they are demanding an additional EUR 135 billion from member states to fuel the conflict. Hungary will not take part in this bizarre Brussels venture.”

Friday's European Union agreement changes the way it decides on Russian assets, removing the need to make decisions on this issue every six months with the consent of all capitals, and may make it easier to transfer them to Ukraine as part of a reparations loan.

EU ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova said that due to Friday's decision of the European Union, Russia will not have access to the frozen assets of its central bank in Europe, even through the “back door”.
