A resident of Kazan confessed to Moscow law enforcement officers in the murder of deputy Galina Starovoitova in 1998. He said he shot her with a sniper rifle. But it turned out that he killed another person.
Repeatedly convicted Timur Bagautdinov arrived in the capital recently. After being free for some time, he went to the department. There he wrote a confession, in which he described in detail from whom and when he took the money, as well as how he dealt with the official. Afterwards he ended up in Moscow pre-trial detention center No. 5.
Investigators checked the information and found out that: a) 26 years ago, two people killed Starovoitova – and not in the capital, but in St. Petersburg; b) Bagautdinov was not in the Leningrad region at that time. Now law enforcement officers have organized a new check and are studying archival documents to understand who Timur could actually kill.
