Alisia Boiciuc (20 years old), the player from Romania, was nominated on the short list of the best young handball players from the World Women's Handball Championship in Holland and Germany.
Romania collected 3 wins and 2 losses at the World Championship, being eliminated from the race for the quarter-finals. The tricolors are still hoping to finish in 9th or 10th place and on Friday, December 5, they took a first step towards this goal, winning 37-17 over Senegal.

The player of the match has been named the young Alisia Boiciuc, who scored 5 goals from as many throwshaving an exceptional performance in the duel with the opponent from Africa. After this game, the Corona Brașov athlete reached a total of 14 goals at the World Championship.

Alisia Boiciuc, 20, captained Romania's U19 team that won bronze at the 2023 European Championship and made her senior national debut in the same year. Since then, she's earned her spot, playing both offense and defense, and being a well-rounded, dual-threat player.
This final tournament marks her debut at the World Championship and she brings a physical presence, tactical alertness and shooting accuracy to Romania's attacking structure. The 20-year-old scored 5 goals and provided 4 assists in her national team's first 3 games in the preliminary round

Boiciuc started the World Championship very well and scored 3 goals in the emphatic victory against Croatia (33-24). Then, the handball player from Sighetu Marmații didn't play as well and, with Japan and Denmark, managed one goal each.
Boiciuc proved his potential in the confrontations with Hungary and Senegal, collecting 9 goals, almost double the successes in the preliminary phase. She showed great accuracy on long shots, hitting the net of the opposing goals.
The other U21 players nominated on the IHF list are Julie Scaglione (Denmark), Lyndie Tchaptchet (Spain), Nina Dury (France), Nieke Kuhne (Germany), Viola Leuchter (Germany), Petra Simon (Hungary), Elin Klara Thorkelsdottir (Iceland), Alieke van Maurik (Netherlands), Thea Kylberg (Sweden), Mia Emmenegger (Switzerland) and Era Baumann (Switzerland).
