When will the US-Ukraine meeting take place?
What were the results of Tuesday's meeting with Putin?
Who leads the Ukrainian delegation in Miami?
What are Ukraine's expectations towards the US in the negotiations?
— Ukraine has made every possible effort to end the war and ensure a just and lasting peace in our country. We spent a lot of time communicating with the American side (…). As for the meetings in Moscow and the next steps that could be taken, there is not much progress, but it is a process, she said.
Stefasnishina added that further talks between the US and Ukraine are to take place on Thursday in Miami, where the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, will visit. – Only after this conversation can we draw any conclusions – added the Ukrainian ambassador.
“We don't want a room with dressing”
When asked by PAP about the words of President Donald Trump, who said on Thursday that Putin wants peace, but added that “it takes two to tango”, in response she recalled the words of the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, from a recent interview, in which he stated that his dream dinner guests would be Trump, Putin and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. He said he would serve steaks and fries with Russian dressing.
“A room with Russian dressing is not the peace we want,” said Stefanishyna. She noted that Ukraine enjoys bipartisan support in Congress and expressed hope that this will translate into the adoption of a law on additional sanctions against Russia.
— We shouldn't wait until tomorrow. Russia will have committed many crimes by tomorrow. They failed to reach an agreement in Alaska. They did not organize a meeting in Budapest. They did not negotiate in good faith on this 28-point proposal. Enough. And President Trump should have more pressure at his disposal. I think the Senate could enable him to do so in further negotiations, said Stefaniszyna.
