Matteo Berrettini (29 years old, 56 ATP) and Flavio Cobolli (23 years old, 22 ATP) qualified Italy for the Davis Cup final, defeating Belgium 2-0.

Italy, champion of the last two editions, is the first nation to reach three consecutive finals since Australia in 2001. Matteo Berrettini and Flavio Cobolli, the winner of the Bucharest tournament, contributed to this success.

Matteo Berrettini won his first match in Bologna, defeating Raphael Collignon (23, 74 ATP) 6-3, 6-4.

From the start, Berrettini gave an amazing performance. His forehand in particular was devastating for Collignon. “Honestly, I think the crowd is an important factor because we are playing in Italy. It's Davis Cup, but I don't think I won because of that. I would say that I played a very good match”, Matteo said.

Flavio Cobolli, immense joy

The winning point came from Flavio Cobolli (23, 22 ATP), who cruised past Zizou Bergs (26, 43 ATP) 6-3, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (15) in three hours and four minutes in a dramatic match. The winner of the Bucharest tournament saved seven match points before asserting himself and ripping his shirt off in Novak Djokovic style.

“I don't know what to say. We're a group of five guys who give it their all every time they step on the field. Lwe are rooting for each other, trying to fulfill our dream, which you all know. I want to thank you for giving me a lot of support and warmth, and thus it is much easier to play. I took a few risks, but this is how I imagined it would be the ideal match. I fulfilled my biggest dream, thank you all I want to dedicate this victory to my mother, who usually does not come to such events, to my brother, who does not stop crying… And to a dear friend, who I hope will soon return to football. Forza Italia!” said Flavio Cobolli on the field.

In Sunday's final, Italy will face the winner of the semi-final Spain – Germany. Since 1972, when it switched to this format, no country has managed to win the Silver Bowl three times in a row.
