Russia crosses another border. Donald Tusk warns in the Sejm

Prime Minister Donald Tusk, referring to Poland's security situation in the Sejm, emphasized that the country was in a “particularly serious moment”, related to both the Russian-Ukrainian war and – as he said – the progressive escalation of hybrid actions on the part of Moscow. “Russia is implementing the next stage of hybrid war, the goal of which is to destabilize our country,” he said, noting that his words are addressed primarily to public figures and politicians.

“Critical limit crossed”
Tusk said that recent events “leave no room for any illusions.” As he said, sabotage actions “inspired and directly organized by the Kremlin services” were to cross a “critical border” in recent days. The Prime Minister stated that we can now talk about “state terrorism”, the aim of which is both the destruction of infrastructure and “people's lives and destabilization of the foundations of the Polish state”.
Among these activities he mentioned, among others: blowing up railway tracks, destroying traction, “a powerful disinformation and propaganda campaign”, including slogans appearing in Russia about an alleged “partisan in Poland”, as well as beating the Polish ambassador. According to the Prime Minister, Russia “wants to weaken us at all costs” because “Poland is too strong today to attack it directly.” He also pointed out that Moscow's strategy assumes quarreling Poland with Europe, Ukraine and internally.
Tusk appealed for responsibility, emphasizing that he was addressing those who “don't understand, who were fooled by lies, who are making mistakes.” He said: “Come to your senses while there is still time.” He also added that what may be only a mistake in peaceful times, “in times of war becomes treason.”
Donald Tusk's five commandments for Polish politicians
- Don't repeat the lies of Russian propaganda.
- Do not undermine trust in the Polish army and Polish services and do not prevent them from acting.
- Do not weaken the state with legislative sabotage, including the modern liberum veto.
- Don't undermine European unity – support a strong West, not Russia.
- Stand on Ukraine's side without any “buts”. Every such “but” works for Russia.
Tusk ended his speech with the words: “There is no 'but' in times of war. Simply put, you are either for Poland or against it. And when it comes to national security in the face of the Russian threat, we will either be united or we will not be at all.”
