Doru Toma, former emblematic player at FC Argeș, currently team manager at the club, passed away at the age of 68.
Tragedy in the white-violet family, on the very day when FC Argeș will host Craiova University.
Doru Toma, former emblematic midfielder in Trivale, who wore the purple-white equipment for 12 seasons, passed away. His family made the announcement this morning, the cause of death being, for the moment, unknown.
Doru Toma was a team manager at FC Argeș, working as a competition organizer. In December 2024, he symbolically kicked off the match between FC Argeș and FC Botoșani. “Nea Tomiță”, as those close to him knew him, was then given a personalized T-shirt with his name and number 3.

Doru Toma played over 200 matches at FC Argeș, in which he scored 7 times. He also has 6 appearances in European Cups, including memorable matches against Nottingham, Valencia and Panathinaikos, and he was part of the team that won the title in the 1978/1979 season.
In the decisive match of that season, the “thiller” with Dinamo in which a victory of the “dogs” would have brought them the title, Toma was an integralist.
Eternal rest, Doru Toma!
Falling stars do not die. Falling stars go to another sky. Sincere condolences to the bereaved family! God rest him in peace!
