Bosnia – Romania 3-1. The “Tricolori” can no longer finish in 2nd place and will face a much more difficult opponent in the play-off in March for qualification to the World Championship. Mihai Stoica (60 years old), the FCSB official, would not give a passing grade to the qualification campaign.
With one match left to play, the one against San Marino from Ploiesti, Romania is in 3rd place in group H with 10 points after 7 matches. Austria leads with 18, followed by Bosnia with 16.
Asked about the grade he would give this qualification campaign, Mihai Stoica he took each match and averaged it.
The national team presented itself disastrously in his view, and the “tricolors” would not deserve to pass the class.
Mihai Stoica, devastating speech: “It was a very easy group, I saw Austria play, they played miserably against Cyprus at home”
The official of the Romanian champion remains of the opinion that it is the easiest qualifying group that we could have, and Austria the weakest seed.
Even in this context, Romania lost 3 out of 4 matches against Austria and Bosnia. MM only praised the performance of the “tricolors” in the match against Austria in Bucharest, when they won 1-0, but far too little to get anything from this group.
“I wouldn't give a passing grade, under any circumstances. You led 2-0 in Cyprus, you drew 2-2 with Cyprus, who you destroyed away (no – in the League of Nations).
We won in extra time against Austria, after a good match, but about the only one. We didn't play badly against Bosnia at home either, there I think the referee obviously disadvantaged us. I don't know if we had to win that match, but if he gave us a penalty and we scored, Marin was on the field, we scored for sure.
I've never seen a player shoot a penalty so well, he was giving it in the net. Then the average doesn't really come out. We all went to school, the average is based on grades. You can't pass with Cyprus, you can't with Bosnia at home, you can't in Bosnia. Not in Austria, and you are left with an Austria at home.
San Marino is not included, those are things you could go to or not, like colloquiums were in college. That's what we're left with, in the weakest possible group we finished 3rd, after Bosnia.
We were execrable in this campaign, execrable! It was a very easy group, I saw Austria play, they played miserably against Cyprus at home, with a penalty that didn't exist. And now in Cyprus, likewise, the weakest team of all the seeds, maybe only Italy is there.
Take the victory with San Marino, we are 7-8 on goal difference with Austria, Bosnia and Cyprus. Bosnia is inferior to us, I think. Austria is upon us, but I have never seen Austria so weak. She seemed very thin to me, not thin”, said MM, at Prima Sport 1.
