“She was like a member of the family”: a funeral was held for the car in India
Farmer Sanjaya Polar owned a Suzuki Wagon-R for 12 years. Instead of selling or scrapping the car, he decided to give it a lavish funeral to express his gratitude for all that “the car did for the well-being of his family.”
More than 1,500 people came to say goodbye to the “dead”: a large grave was dug for the car, and it, decorated with flowers, was lowered down the hill before it was “buried.”
About $5,000 was spent on organizing the event.
