The singer Dani Mocanu and his brother Ionuț Nando Mocanu were not found at their home in Ştefăneşti, Argeş, to be imprisoned after they were definitively convicted of attempted murder. Dani Mocanu was definitively sentenced on Thursday to 4 years in prison, while his brother to 7 years, in the case that left after they were involved in a fight in a gas station in Pitesti in August 2022. In addition, according to Thursday's final decision of the Brasov Court of Appeal, the two must pay 40,000 euros to the man they beat, as well as the expenses hospitalization for him.
“Based on the warrants issued by the court, the police officers carried out checks, the two were not found at their home address. The checks continue, in order to detect and implement the two warrants for the execution of the prison sentence”, the Argeș Police reported on Thursday, quoted by news.ro.
The accusations against Dani Mocanu
Dani Mocanu was on trial for attempted murder and disturbing public order and peace following a scandal that took place in August 2022 in a gas station in the municipality of Pitesti, as a result of which a man ended up in hospital with a head injury.
Then, Dani Mocanu was detained by the prosecutors in Argeș for attempted murder, after being involved in a fight at a gas station in Pitesti. His brother was detained along with the manelist. Following the altercation, a man arrived at the hospital with serious head injuries. Thus, the law enforcement officers then opened a criminal case for attempted murder and disturbing public order.
The scandal took place on the night of August 18 to 19, in a gas station in Pitesti. A call to 112 announced that several people were fighting, but when the police crews arrived, all those involved in the scandal had left.
Later, a man presented himself at a medical unit in the municipality with serious head injuries, caused by the incidents at the gas station.
The incident was captured by the gas station's surveillance cameras. Despite the images, Dani Mocanu pleaded not guilty and said that he was just trying to smooth over the conflict.
