“Pray.” Benfica midfielder Sudakov closed comments after an unsuccessful match in the Champions League


Benfica midfielder, as the Ukrainian Telegram channel Lifestyle on Sport.UA writes on October 26found himself in the spotlight after an unsuccessful Champions League match, during which the Portuguese club lost to the British club Newcastle with a score of 0:3.

The day after the match, October 24, Sudakov published photos taken during the fight.

“Pray. Wait. Trust,” he wrote briefly in English, which translated means “Pray. Wait. Believe.”

The editors of the sports Telegram channel admit that Sudakov could have limited the ability to comment on the post due to the first hateful reactions.

“Every time I thought I had failed, God blessed me with something better,” says the last image in the carousel on Sudakov’s page.

Context

Sudakov has played for Shakhtar since 2020 and played a total of 148 matches for the Ukrainian club, scoring 35 goals and providing 26 assists. Together with Shakhtar, Sudakov became the champion of Ukraine twice (2023, 2024), won two Ukrainian Cups (2024, 2025) and the Ukrainian Super Cup (2021). The Shakhtar website states that Sudakov’s “star quality” is an accurate strike.

In Benfica, the now former Shakhtar player received a T-shirt with number 10. Transfermarkt writes that Sudakov’s transfer cost Benfica €27 million, and the Ukrainian should receive another €5 million in bonuses.
