Denisa Golgotă (23 years old) stated upon arrival from Jakarta, from the World Championships, that she was harassed, physically and mentally, implying that it was Sabrina Voinea, her teammate. The president of FR Gimnastică, Ioan Suciu, told GSP that everything that happened will be investigated in detail.
Upon returning to the country after the World Championships in Jakarta, which ended on October 25, Denisa Golgotă (23 years old, 7th place in the floor final) said that “I submitted a complaint that was not taken into account. Everyone knows what it is about. The people I train with in the gym harassed me and tried to make me give in mentally. Unfortunately, the Federation made it rain”, according to as.ro.
The gymnast also accuses the officials of favoritism at the batch level. In turn, Camelia Voineathe mother and the coach Sabrina Voinea (4th place in the floor final and 7th on the beam), to whom the accusations seem to be directed, replied to GSP that “there are some lies, some frustrations, because Sabrina is much better than her. It bothers me a lot and if she does not apologize, I will take legal action. (…) It is clear that she is being manipulated by certain people, from her circle, but I will not accept that such lies are told”.
The President of the Romanian Gymnastics Federation, Ioan Suciu (47 years old), multiple Olympic, World and European medalist, spoke to GSP about the heated situation that has arisen.
– Mr. Suciu, do you expect those statements from Denisa Golgotă, upon arrival from the World Championships?
– I'm totally surprised because I stayed in Jakarta for more than ten days together and he didn't tell me anything at all.
– What could have triggered such a reaction?
– On another note, I am convinced that there is no smoke without fire and somewhere something, a spark or a flame was at some point. Because we, for more than two months, have tried, but I see that we have not faded the discussions and conflicts that were born then. But I had a discussion both with the girls, with the group or, let's say, batch number two, because there are two batches in Bucharest, the Voinea batch and the Moroșan batch. And we had a discussion on both sides with various accusations and then we tried to manage it internally, because it wasn't the case. And that's not the case hereafter, I consider that they are matters of the kitchen that must concern us strictly.
In high performance, things do not go very smoothly and all kinds of syncope appear, but we will firmly condemn any form of bullying or discrimination at the federation level, such a thing is not even discussed – Ioan Suciu

– What is the next step?
– Now we are going to investigate in detail to see if such things happened, because, I repeat, I am shocked. And their seriousness, at least in the statement. Ten days there I had no knowledge of such a thing. And at first thing in the morning, coming together, once again I say, for me it was something hallucinatory.
– Is it true that he filed a complaint?
– He did not file any complaint. Complaints, as far as I know, are made to the police. We are a federation.
– Or did he express any dissatisfaction?
– We had a discussion and he pointed out certain points that we debated. And we tried to solve them, solve them amicably and internally. Because they are matters of preparation, there are dissatisfactions on both sides. And I considered that they were absolutely natural things in a preparation process, they did not escalate, in any way. To hear now that there were completely different accusations.

– On the other hand, in her statements, Denisa mentioned a certain favoritism and even if she didn't name it, it seems that the target is a clear one.
– Yes, we know the subject, and it is true that there can be some degree of subjectivity. We are talking about high performance. It is possible, at such a level, when things get more tense, to put it more elegantly, that it explodes one way or the other. Denisa, I also had a discussion with her, she felt disadvantaged.
– Finally, how do you rate the results of these World Championships, along with the frustration of not getting a medal, even though Sabrina was so close to the ground?
– From my point of view, I say that these World Championships are a big plus, having three finals, including Denisa, which is also an exceptional result. That's what I'd call the fact that he caught the final, considering the break period. It is also a plus due to the fact that Ana Maria Mihăescu also had a presence, and an honorable performance, I say. Ela Oprea did the same, with a very good parallel in execution, on the day of the competition. I really concluded hotly there and then coming on the road that it was really a win, this World Championship, at the level of establishing a nucleus for approaching the next two decisive years for the Olympic Games in 2028.
