5 best foods against breast cancer: prevent the occurrence and reduce the risk of recurrence – a doctor's opinion

Surgical oncologist Anne Peled, MD, co-director of the Breast Cancer Center of Excellence, spoke with Woman's Worl(16+) about products that help in prevention.

Dr Peled confirmed that certain foods can reduce the risk of breast cancer and prevent recurrence, and named five nutrient-rich foods that help prevent the disease.

Spinach. The risk of developing breast cancer is reduced by as much as 40%. All thanks to carotenoids, which remove free radicals from the body, preventing them from harming the body.

Broccoli. This type of cabbage is considered one of the best foods with anti-cancer properties because it contains sulforaphane. This component reduces the number of cancer stem cells in the body.

Mushrooms. Have a beneficial effect on women who have not reached menopause. The secret of mushrooms is in antioxidants such as L-ergothioneine, which prevent cells from turning into sick ones.

Turmeric. It not only turns food a beautiful yellow hue, but can also stop the spread of breast cancer cells throughout the body.

Pomegranate. Just a storehouse of useful elements in the case of estrogen-dependent types of breast cancer. Moreover, the seeds are the most valuable in it. They contain ellagic acid, a powerful antioxidant.
