“It is time to stop the killing and implement an immediate ceasefire,” said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. “Given President Putin's refusal to end this senseless war, the Treasury Department is imposing sanctions on two of Russia's largest oil companies that finance the Kremlin's war machine. The Treasury Department stands ready to take further action as needed to support President Trump's efforts to end another war. We encourage our allies to join us and compliance with these sanctions,” we read in the statement.
According to the Department, Rosneft is an integrated energy company specializing in the exploration, extraction, production, refining, transportation and sale of crude oil, natural gas and petroleum products. Lukoil is engaged in the exploration, production, refining, marketing and distribution of oil and gas in Russia and around the world.
