“Benvenuto a U, Cristiano Bergodi!

FC Universitatea Cluj announces the appointment of Cristiano Bergodi as head coach. Winner of four trophies in Romanian football, the Italian technician today signed a contract that extends until 2027″, the Cluj players wrote on Facebook.

Bergodi was free of contract from April 2024, his last adventure being at Rapid, a team he led in 37 games and with which, at one point, he gave the impression that he could fight for the title. He was, however, dismissed after a series of failures.

GSP.ro reveals that he will have a monthly salary of 15,000 euros. Toni Conceicao and Andrei Prepelita were also on the cards to take over the Transylvanian team.

The Italian coach also coached in Romania at Sepsi, Craiova University, FC Voluntari, ASA Tg. Mureș, FCSB, Poli Iasi, CFR Cluj and FC National. He also trained Modena, Pescara and Brescia.

He won 4 trophies in his career: two Romanian Cups with Sepsi (2022, 2023) and two Supercups, one also with Sepsi (2023) and the other with Rapid (2008).

Bergodi takes over U Cluj in a difficult situation, after a season in which they finished in 4th place and qualified for the Conference League preliminaries. The team ranks 10th in the domestic competition, with 14 points.
