The interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, said on Wednesday that the party he leads will come up with a proposal for a law on magistrates' pensions “that will bring all these excesses” in the system back to the parameters of decency.
“PSD will come up with a law proposal that will bring all these excesses back to the parameters of decency, because it is not normal to retire at 48-49 years old with 7-10,000 euros. These are not normal things and they must be corrected”, said Sorin Grindeanu in Craiova, quoted by Agerpres.
He claims that the Minister of Justice “sent observations to the Government that were not taken into account, because we have to work on the statue of some and others rather than solving these problems”.
“We assure you that we will propose a law that will also pass the CCR and all the constitutionality checks and will restore normalcy to the Romanian special pensions system for magistrates. And this will happen very quickly, regardless of the sound and light show set up by some and others”, continued the interim president of the PSD.
The law on the special pensions of magistrates, rejected on Monday by the CCR
The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) rejected on Monday the law that modifies the pension system for judges and prosecutors, adopted by the Government by pledging responsibility in Parliament on September 1.
On Wednesday, in a press statement at the Parliament, Sorin Grindeanu said that he found out “from sources” that the law on magistrates' pensions would have been rejected by the Constitutional Court and on its content, if it had had the opinion of the CSM and had passed the formal analysis. The PSD leader accused Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan of not having a dialogue with the magistrates and of not taking into account President Nicușor Dan's proposals regarding this law.
“I understand from the sources that anyway the project, if it had passed the first step, the one of rejection on the procedure, would have had rejections on the merits as well”, declared Sorin Grindeanu, without providing any other details in this regard.
