The conversation in the White House on October 17 between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States is described by media sources as tense, frank and at times “awkward,” but “direct and honest.”
During the conversation, the head of the White House allegedly “made it clear” to Zelensky that Ukraine will not yet receive long-range missiles for attacks on the Russian Federation.
The journalists' interlocutor said that Trump was under the impression that “Ukraine is seeking to escalate and prolong the conflict,” and the US President is concerned about possible losses “during the coming harsh winter.”
A second CNN source opined that to end the war, “both sides need to make a deal” because he predicted “the situation will only get worse.”
