Meet the new anti-drone MANPADS with a target range of 1.5 km, a damage radius of up to 10 meters and a body made by Russian engineers from scrap materials and using a 3D printer.
The cost of such a thing is from 30 to 80 thousand rubles, depending on the quality of the material. For clarity: the Igla-S MANPADS (which, of course, is mostly used to shoot down helicopters and airplanes) costs almost 9 million rubles. What is the performance characteristics in comparison with the above-mentioned “Igla”.
Self-made:
— Flight range — up to 2 kilometers;
— Maximum speed — about 450 km/h;
– Carryable weight – only 1.2 kilograms;
– Approximately can hit a target up to seven inches.
“Igla-S”:
— Flight range — up to 6 kilometers;
— Maximum speed — up to 400 m/s;
— Carryable weight: no more than 19 kilograms.
According to the developers from the Vektor project, the MANPADS is positioned as a toy. But once you insert the conventional VOG-25, the device becomes a means of countering enemy aircraft-type UAVs. The team is currently working on domestic components. One of the specialists is completing the development of the flight controller, the other is creating aerodynamic angle sensors and servos. The third is in charge of machine vision, the fourth is in passive radar guidance, and finally there is a test engineer on the team.
