Csikszereda – CFR Cluj 2-2. Islam Slimani (37 years old) scored the first goal for the Romanian vice-champion. It wasn't enough, as the Transylvanians were tied in one of the last phases and left with only one point from Miercurea Ciuc.
The best scorer in the history of the Algerian national team started the match as a reserve and was sent on the field in the 69th minute. 2 minutes later he scored, and in the end he took care of the refereeing of George Găman.
In his view, there was no penalty in the last phase. He later praised Romania's championship and noted his younger colleague in the attack, Lorenzo Bilibo (18 years old).
Islam Slimani, statements after the first goal at CFR Cluj: “I hope to stay as long as possible in Romania”
“It was a tough game. We made it 2-1 and we got a penalty in the last minute. I think we deserved more. In my opinion, it wasn't a penalty, but it's the referee's decision and we have to respect it.
I think we did everything we could, but it was a very good intervention by the goalkeeper in the opportunities we had. I'm happy for the goal but not for the result. We have to keep working and winning game after game.
We will now work to resolve this situation. It's a tough league, very strong, with many young and very good players. I am happy to be here and hope to stay as long as possible. CFR always plays for Europe, for the title, that's where we have to get.
Biliboc is a very good player. I think he will have a very nice career if he continues to work”, said Slimani, on Prima Sport 1.
Following this result, CFR Cluj climbs to 11th place, with 13 points after 12 stages, 5 behind Unirea Slobozia, the occupier of the last play-off place.
