“It's not nice when things go out in the press”

Former Romanian international Gabi Balint (62 years old) commented on Romania's victory with Austria, score 1-0, but also the conflict between coach Mircea Lucescu (80 years) and Răzvan Marin (29 years), who aroused discussions in the public space after the match.

The former Star striker analyzed the success of the national team and spoke about Marin's situation, the role of Ianis Hagi and the duel Chipciu – Bancu for the title on the left flank.

Balint was sharp when asked about the misunderstandings between the coach and the midfielder of AEK Athens: “It's not good when things get in the press”

Balint believes that Răzvan Marin, although unhappy, will not make a case from this situation:

It's not nice when things appear in the press. I have always kept at this idea. What is discussed in the locker room must stay there. It is good for the coach to give explanations to the players, and if they understand, well, if not, as well. But when someone appears in the press and speaks, it's not right.

I heard what Răzvan said (Marin no), it is clear that he was unhappy that he did not play, but it was good to talk between four eyes with the coach. Maybe “Nea” Mircea wanted to tell him that he would prefer to play with Ianis (no Hagi), with him number 10, and I think Răzvan would have understood.

Marin is a smart player, will not turn this into a scandal. I believe in the friendly dialogue between the coach and the player, but not everyone is the same. Some prefer to be told directly, others on the bypass. ”

The former striker had words of appreciation for the performance of the midfielders Hagi and Dragomir:

“I liked Dragomir. He was not sensational in something, but he did his job and fulfilled his role. It was necessary near Marius Marin by a powerful player to run, for Ianis to have freedom.

If you give solutions to Ianis and do not force him to go down too much, put him in value. It can be seen that he will trust and will progress a lot. ”

Gabi Balint praises Alex Chipciu but believes that Nicușor Bancu will return to the starting team

Balint was delighted by the team's performance and praised Chipciu's surprisingly good evolution on the left defender position:

“The team worked well, I liked it (no Alexandru Chipciu) made an unexpected match, although it is not a left-handed defender. Bancu is more common in this post and I think he will play in the next match, with Bosnia. However, it will matter how both the club team evolves until then.”

Balint appreciated the statement of the coach Mircea Lucescu: “did not come with empty words”

After Mircea Lucescu's statements, who said that Victoria is his tactical merit, Balint appreciated the transparency of the coach:

I liked Mircea Lucescu's sincerity. It is often a cliché. The coaches say that the merit is the players, but everyone knows they think tactics and make decisions. He was honest: that's what I felt, that's what I said. He did not come with empty words. ”

The former international also joked on the situation in 1986, when Romania had won 4-0 against Austria, and he is joking that Lucescu could have left, as in '86:

“If I was beating now with 4-0 Austria, he may resign (no laugh). But then there were other games in the back. That's why he left

Now, the dam is insured, it has no reason to leave. It is worth going to the end, it is not easy to hear criticism at his age. ”
