On Friday, President Karol Nawrocki signed a decision on the use of branches and sub -units of the Polish Armed Forces to help the Border Guard – BBN said. Soldiers will secure the border with Germany and Lithuania. Prime Minister Donald Tusk decided to use the Military Police to help SG on the border with Germany.


“From October 5, 2025 to April 4, 2026, the Branches and subunits of the Polish Armed Forces will be used to ensure the integrity of the state border and public security and order within the territorial reach of border crossings and in the border zone on the state border with the Federal Republic of Germany and with the Lithuanian Republic” – the National Security Office was noted.
The president's decision was published in Monitor Polski.
Also on Friday, the Prime Minister Donald Tusk signed an ordinance on the use of soldiers of the Military Gendarmerie to provide assistance of the Border Guard on the border with Germany from October 5 to the day of temporary restoration of border control.
“In a relationship with a possible threat to security or public order due to the occurrence of a serious threat of illegal immigration on the state border with the Federal Republic of Germany, soldiers of the Military Police will help the Border Guard In the period from October 5, 2025 to the date of temporary restoration of the border control of persons on the state border with the Federal Republic of Germany, introduced on the basis of art. 17a of the Act of October 12, 1990 on the protection of the state border ” – we read in the ordinance published in the Polish Monitor.
Controls at the borders with Germany and Lithuania were introduced on July 7, and then extended from August 6 to October 4. On Wednesday, the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński signed a regulation on re -extending temporary control at the borders with these countries. It will enter into force on October 5 this year. and extend the inspections for another six months – until April 4, 2026.
During temporary control at the boundaries of the Border Guard, supported by the police and WOT soldiers, they can stop selected vehicles for inspection.
According to the government, this is necessary to reduce the uncontrolled flow of migrants. Also, the analysis of the migration situation shows the need to extend the temporary restoration of border control at the state border with Germany and Lithuania.
On the Polish-German border, controls are carried out in 50 places, and on the Polish-Lithuanian border in 13. (PAP)
