At the beginning of September, Jones appealed to the Supreme Court of Florida, citing intellectual disability and alleged abuse that he was to experience as a teenager in closed juvenile. The court rejected the arguments, considering that the issue of disability was already considered, and the allegations of abuse never appeared during the trial. A few hours before the execution, the United States Supreme Court rejected the final appeal without comment.
