Donald Trump not only threatens to close government administration – he wants it. The clock is ticking and it seems that this time the president will deliberately stop the tips on “Zero Hour”. If the Congress does not reach a budget agreement until midnight on Tuesday, the US government will be left without money. The so -called closure of the government will take place.
However, unlike the previous Shutdowns, this time the White House just doesn't want to press the “pause button”. He wants to use this moment for a radical and permanent reconstruction of the state apparatus.
The man standing behind this plan is Russell Vought, a powerful director of the United States Management and Budget Office, architect “Project 2025” – an ultra -conservative general plan for the second term of Trump. As he claims in an interview with Politico Bill Hoagland, a former strategist of the Republican Party, the “explicit intention” of Vought is “the beast's influenza” [rządu federalnego]. He knows how to play this game. “The consequences of these activities can be the most radical for decades.
For Vought, the likely closing of the government is not a crisis and a cause for concern. An important Trump official at his own message addressed to the lower -level authorities, which reads: “get ready for mass layoffs”. This time it is not about temporary breaks at work, as was the case in the past, but about the final reduction of full -time jobs.

Usually, after closing the administration, employees return to their jobs as soon as Congress approves the financing again. But this is where Vought enters: he ordered the authorities to prepare not only for temporary breaks at work, but for a lasting reduction of full -time jobs.

Using the state of emergency in administration, it can eliminate positions, close entire programs and reorganize the staff in accordance with Trump's priorities – without the need to vote in Congress.
The reduction scale would be historical. According to “The Washington Post”, over 114,000 could be liquidated. jobs. According to the American newspaper reports, five federal agencies – including those that help homeless people, supervising product safety or examination of chemical accidents – would be completely liquidated. 14 other departments would have to dismiss one third of his employees.
“Historical chance”
Only the departments that are financed from the “great, beautiful law” of Trump are excluded from the planned cuts. It is primarily about areas related to the army and internal safety. It seems that the goal of Trump's administration is to create a federal government, which mainly deals with the army, migration and internal security, and much less social programs, education or regulations. Some political observers even say that Trump intentionally wants to close the government.
In short: everyone who does not match Trump's priorities must leave.

Trump and his allies can win a double victory. At the same time, they save money and weaken institutions that they have been presenting as hostile for years – from the Department of Labor to Environmental Protection and Consumer Agencies.
The former chairman of the Chamber of Representatives Newt Gingrich talks to the American media about the “historical chance of eliminating the blown state apparatus.”
At the same time, the pressure on democrats is growing: they either accept Trump's temporary budget or risk the breakup of the state administration apparatus.
However, even conservative observers are wondering if a hard V Ita position is more than a bluff. Even in spring, the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge, led by Elon Musk), known for their controversy, dismissed thousands of employees – only to hire some of them again a few months later, because otherwise important tasks would remain unconvinced.
In the coming days it will turn out whether Trump and Vought will actually carry out cuts or just overcome the pressure on Democrats. One thing is certain: it is closing the government, if it comes to it, it will not be a mere dispute over the budget. It will be an attempt to force the future of the American state – and can lead to the most radical reconstruction of the US government for decades.
