Macron: Trump is closer to Ukraine than ever

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that Donald Trump is now “closer than ever” Ukraine. He expressed the hope that this would help “increase pressure” to Russia.

“He saw the seriousness of Europeans and their commitment (…)

“And in this context I believe that they are closer to Ukraine, Europeans than ever,” he noted.

The French president expressed the hope that “this would increase pressure on Russia and force her to suspend the fighting, return to negotiations.”

The AFP agency reminded that Trump on Tuesday compared Russia to a paper tiger and suggested that Ukraine could win a war with the Russian army. (PAP)
