Canadian jumping with skis Alexandria Loutitt, a world champion in 2023, will miss the whole Olympic season after a serious knee injury, suffered at the Grand Summer in Predazzo (Italy).
The 21 -year -old athlete fell at the landing of Friday's qualifications and was diagnosed with ligaments and meniscus lesion. According to the Ski Jumping Canada Federation, Loutitt is to be operated on this week in Innsbruck (Germany).
The world champion Alexandria Loutitt reacted on social media: “The hardest moment for me”
The World Champion reacted exciting, recognizing that the news is a huge shock:
“It is a huge blow to me. I am devastated that this injury will deprive me of the chance to participate in the Olympic games. It is the hardest time for me, because I feel that I have disappointed my family, friends, team and everyone who supported me,” Loutitt said.
Not here and not now I imagined that the season will end …
I spent my whole life dreaming of the Olympic Games. My target, from the moment I started skiing, was to participate in these games, Beijing was just an unexpected bonus.I am destroyed when I think I miss the chance to represent Canada at the highest level. I feel that I have lost the opportunity to show them why the sport I love deserves more recognition. I feel like I'm disappointing my community, my people and, the worst, myself.
I mean, my road has not ended, but it is heartbreaking to go through this challenge in an Olympic year. However, as my year takes another direction, I plan to make room for other important things for me, such as spending more time and working with @skijumping_candevo, while these wonderful Canadians learn to fly in international competitions.
I must say how grateful I am for all the love and support received from the family of skis … especially my colleagues, coaches and staff from @skijumping_canada @teamcanada @otpcanada. Also, I cannot express how lucky they are that @schofenig_airlines and @ski_austria_skisprgen have made sure that I receive the help I need to be over 8,000 km from home. 🙏🏼❤️🩹
