Andreea Ana (24 years old) climbed on Tuesday, on the third step of the podium in the 55 kg category, in the World Fighting Championships in Zagreb (Croatia). The Romanian passed in the final for the Cuban bronze Yaynelis Sanz Verdeia with 6-3.
Andreea Ana brought the first medal for Romania to the World Fighting Championships in Zagreb. The Romanian won the bronze in the category 55 kilograms.
His road to the first world podium began on Monday, when he passed in the Chinese Xuejing Liang preliminaries, in “optimals” he defeated American Cristelle Noelle Rodriguez, and in “quarters” Karla Lorena Godinez from Canada. Then, in the semifinals, he was defeated by the Russian Ekaterina Verbina.

On Tuesday night, Andreea Ana met in the bronze final on Cubanis Yaynelis Sanz Verde, which she exceeded with a score of 6-3, thus conquering her first world distinction. The record of the Romanian fighter also includes three titles of European senior champion, conquered in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The gold medal was won by Ryong OH (North Korea), the silver by Ekaterina Verbina (Russia), and the second bronze medal of Sowaka Uchida (Japan).
Romania participated in the World Championships with a batch of ten athletes. On Wednesday, September 17, the Beatrice Ionela Ferent in the 53 kg category, Amina Roxana Capezan in qualifications at 62 kg, Kateryna Zelenykh in 68 kg and, also in “Optim”, at 72 kg, Alexandra Aghel will enter the competition.
At the 2024 edition of the World Championships, where only the non-Olympic categories were included, Romania won two medals: a silver through Kateryna Zelenykh (female fights, 65 kg) and a tan by Denis Mihai (Greek-Roman, 55 kg).
At a complete edition of world championships, Romania won the latest medals in 2022, when Alexandra Anghel (72 kg) and Alin Alexuc (Greek-Roman, 130 kg) obtained a bronze.
