Incident with Russian drone in the airspace of Romania
On Saturday, a Russian drone entered the airspace of Romania, during a Russian attack on the Ukrainian infrastructure of the Danube. The Romanian authorities have issued an alert for the northern area of Tulcea county, the local population being informed that there is the possibility of falling objects from the airspace and urged. Two F-16 fighter aircraft were mobilized to monitor the air situation on the border with Ukraine. At no two hours, a new alert was issued in the area. This time, two Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft at the Kogălniceanu base were raised in the air to monitor the situation.
Poland also lifted aircraft on Saturday and temporarily closed Lublin airport due to Russian drones, three days after breaking Russian drones in its airspace, with the support of NATO allies aircraft.

Why did the pilots on the F-16s not break down the drone
According to the Romanian Ministry of Defense, the drone that entered the airspace of Romania on Saturday, during a Russian attack on the Ukrainian infrastructure from the Danube, was of Geran type.
“A Geran drone used by the Russian Federation in Ukraine attacks entered the air space of Romania on Saturday, September 13, at 6:05 pm and was intercepted by two F-16 fighter aircraft, which performed an air patrol mission in the north of Dobrogea,” MAPN said.
According to the MApN, “the drone orbit for about 50 minutes, from the northeast of Chilia Veche, Romania, to the southwest of Izmail (in the Odessa, Ukraine) and left the national air space near Pardina, heading to Ukraine.”
In this context, F-16 aircraft and Eurofighter Typhoon, piloted by Romanian and German military, monitored the area, until 9:30 pm, and received the authorization to bring down the target, says MAPN.
“The F-16 aircraft had intermittent contact with the target, visually and radar, following it throughout the evolution. The pilots received the authorization to bring down the target, but when they had direct contact, evaluated the collateral risks and decided not to open the fire,” explained the Romanian Ministry of Defense.
The MApN statement also condemns the irresponsible actions of the Russian Federation and stresses that they represent a new challenge to regional security and stability in the Black Sea area.
