US President Donald Trump promised sanctions for Russia, and in exchange there was a meeting in Alaska – said Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski in a Friday interview with the American Fox News station. He expressed the hope that Trump would realize his announcements.

– There were supposed to be sanctions, and instead we got Alaska. At that time (…) attacks (Russia – PAP) were intensified. So I hope that President Trump will do what he said he could do. To help Ukraine, give it a long -range rocket to continue her effective campaign against Russian refiners – said the head of Polish diplomacy.
Sikorski referred in this way to the announcement of Trump, who in March threatened Putin that he would impose sanctions if he did not conclude within a month, but he did not realize the announcement. Then in July, the American president warned that he would impose a 100 % secondary tariffs on countries buying Russian oil. Although after a meeting in Alaska in August, the US imposed 50 % duties on India, they have not covered other Russian trading partners, including China, so far.
Sikorski, asked by Fox News about whether Poland would ask the USA to increase the number of American soldiers stationed on its territory, stated that it is in the common interest of Washington and Warsaw.
– We add 15,000 dollars a year for every American soldier, so it's really cheaper to keep and train them in Poland than in the USA – said Sikorski.
Sikorski also reminded viewers of the American station that in the 1990s Ukraine got security guarantees from the United States in exchange for getting rid of the third largest nuclear arsenal in the world. (PAP)
