In some of the Middle East countries, as well as in Pakistan and India, there is interruptions in access to the Internet on Sunday, data transmission is also slowed down, AP said. Disruption was most likely caused by damage to the submarine telecommunications cables running through the Red Sea.

The AP agency reported that the cables could be attacked by the Huti Yemenians, wanting to put pressure on Israel. The Zajdycki group demands from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the end of the invasion of the Gaza Strip. Huti has so far declared that they do not attack the submarine telecommunications cables.
Microsoft has reported on its website that the Middle East “may experience increased delays due to the failure of fiber deposits in the Red Sea.”
In turn, the Netblocks organization monitoring Internet access has announced “a track of underwater cable failure in the Red Sea” and “lowering the quality of connection in many countries”, including India and Pakistan. The failure was to take place near the city of Dżudda in Saudi Arabia.
Undergoing cables can be damaged by anchors drained by ships – AP notes. Repairs can last for weeks, because it takes a long time to find the exact place of damage.
From November 2023 to December 2024, Huti carried out rocket and drone attacks on over 100 ships in the region. Several political leaders of the group were killed in a fire in August by Israel, including the Prime Minister of the Rebel government Ahmed Al-Rahavi and several ministers. (PAP)
