Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said on Thursday, in Paris, after discussions with leaders in the will and President Donald Trump, that a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin is necessary for the end of the war, but he does not agree that he will take place in Moscow, as he proposed on Wednesday.

“A meeting with Putin is necessary. I have supported the proposals in every way. But I think, if you want to fail a meeting, I would propose to go to Moscow,” Zelenski said in a press conference, according to Le Figaro, quoted by News.ro.

“But if Russia talks about a meeting, this is a first step,” he added.

“The meetings between mature leaders must already consider the results, and this is the end of the war,” explained Volodimir Zelenski, letting it be understood that he does not trust Vladimir Putin's seriousness.

“If Zelenski is prepared, come to Moscow,” Vladimir Putin said, on Wednesday, in Beijing, after challenging his president's legitimacy. In the same statement, he had warned, however, that Russia would achieve its goals in Ukraine by military, if negotiations with Kiev fail, ensuring that its troops remain “on its offensive” throughout the Ukrainian front.

Volodimir Zelenski arrived on Wednesday evening in Paris, where he set up with his host, President Emmanuel Macron, the details of the security guarantees for Ukraine, in the event of a peace agreement with Russia. These, as well as the continuation of the aid for Ukraine, were discussed on Thursday with the approximately 30 leaders in the will of will, and then a phone call with President Donald Trump.
