Russian President Vladimir Putin asks Kiev to give up to Russia the four Ukrainian regions, which he claims to annexed from September 2022, in addition to Crimea, which he annexed in 2014, and that Ukraine to give up his plans to join NATO. These conditions are unacceptable for Ukrainian leadership and its Western allies.

As for her, Ukraine demands that the Russian army be completely retired from its territory, of which about 20% is busy, writes Agerpres.

“In order for peace to be sustainable, the new territorial realities that have appeared (…) must be recognized and formalized in accordance with international law”Lavrov said in an interview published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

His Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sîbiga, reacted quickly to these statements. “A new series of old ultimatums. Russia has not changed its brutal objectives and shows no desire to engage in significant negotiations “, he wrote on social networks.

“This proves that the aggressor's appetite only increases when it is not subject to pressure and strength. It is time to hit the Russian war machine with new harsh sanctions'he added.

Russia continues to ask Ukraine to give in to Donbas (East), which it does not fully control, but it is willing to freeze the conflict in the south of the country along the current lines, Turkey informed last week, which hosted three rounds between Russians and Ukrainians this year.

The Russian army occupies about one fifth of the Ukrainian territory, and Moscow claims the annexation of five regions: those in the eastern Donet and Lugansk, which forms the donbas; those in southern Herson and Zaporojiei; and Crimea, which was conquered in 2014.

During the discussions in Istanbul from the beginning of this year, the Russian negotiators demanded the complete withdrawal of Ukraine from these five regions as a prior condition for the conclusion of the conflict.

According to Ankarea, however, Russia changed its position following the recent Alaska summit between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
