Will the budget 2026 break down? The government moves with the tax offensive and is preparing a bank tax, a win on winnings and a higher excise duty

There is already less than a month until the end of summer, so we are slowly approaching the end of the year, and thus inevitably a new budget … The budget, which is just reaching in torture, because there are a lot of expenses, and the money in the purse is lacking as usual. Hence the government traffic, and even a tax offensive, on which, together with Krzysztof Kolar – the main analyst of Bankier.pl, we will focus on today's episode of an economic point of view.

The CIT increase for the banking sector, which meant that the WIG-Banki index poured blood, higher excise stakes for alcohol and tobacco products, sugar tax, and a tax on winnings, whose amount of the government wants to revise after more than 20 years unchanged.
The tax offensive of Donald Tusk's government, which has been announced in recent days, coincides with the completion of work on next year's budget, difficult for the rulers of the budget, you must admit openly.
In the latest episode of the economic point of view, together with Krzysztof Kola – the main analyst of Bankier.pl, we take all this offensive to our podcast wallpaper and weigh all for and against and add to this President Karol Nawrocki, who definitely does not help the ruling team.
At the first fire? Of course, domiar for banks, which in the last month recorded record profits and an equally record decline, after the announcement of plans, taxation, which at least by the government.
– Part of foreign capital withdrew immediately. Such capital, for markets like us, has a simple rule – shoot first, then ask. So they first shot out of the action, and then they would see what will come out of it all. Well, let's remember that first of all this is only a proposal – said Krzysztof Kolans in “WSE”.
We also said about an excise duty increase, which, although still in the sphere of assumptions, was completely seriously blocked by Karol Nawrocki. He declared this in the campaign – also in the Toruń Declaration, that he would not sign a law that increases the load for ordinary Poles.
Above all, however, we focused on whether all these treatments change something in a budget puzzle, and here it seems that it is only a dot in the sea of needs.
Krzysztof Kolan: It is clear that next year's deficit, at least nominally, will be larger than this year's record. Here, even these 10 billion, as we add bank domain, excise and tax increases on winnings …
Aleksander Ogrodnik: It is still missing …
Krzysztof Kolan: What is 10 billion at 300 billion deficit?
We also took a look at the tax on the winnings – those won in random games, to which the state Totalizator Sportowy has a monopoly. Here, as Krzysztof Kolans, justification, saying that this tax has not been valorized for many years, even about inflation, is bizarre …
I would like to remind the minister that the amounts in PIT tax were also not increased by inflation. Let's be consistent. If we want to valorize various tributes, we should do it on both sides of the tax equation, and not just to the detriment of the taxpayer and the consumer.
We talked about this and many other issues in today's economic point of view, which you will listen to on YouTube and Spotify.
We invite you!
