Popovici phenomenon: the more Dinamo will contribute to the Romanian champion reward. What the law said
David Popovici obtained two gold medals, within a few days, at the Singapore's World Swimming Championships. After passing his gold medal at the 200 meter sample in Asia, the Romanian obtained the same performance at the 100-meter free sample.

Following the two successes of the caliber, David the Great will be rewarded by the National Sports Agency, but also by the representatives of World Aquatics.
World Aquatics will give the Romanian 40,000 euros as a reward. Moreover, the Romanian swimmer will also receive a gift from the National Sport Agency. The ANS will offer the athlete 42,000 euros, the amount related to the two medals obtained, according to the regulation.
The Romanian Sport Law provides for the possibility that the ANS president or the chairman of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee will approve the doubling of the prize granted for winning medals to major international competitions. Therefore, Popovici could receive 84,000 euros from the Romanian state.
Dinamo also contributes: “50% of the amount paid by ANS”
Ionuț Popa, the young president of the Dinamo club, provided details about the amounts that belong to David Popovici, from the club, following the performances. In order to be rewarded by Dinamo, David Popovici must be paid first by the ANS.
“David is a phenomenon and I do not think these premiers are according to his performances.
ANS must pay it so that we can do the same. That's how he writes in the law. We (no Dinamo Club) respect the law and we can grant David 50% of the amount that the agency gives. We can also give it 1% of that amount, because Law 69/2000, GD 1447, says: “Up to 50% of the amount given by ANS.
But, I repeat, there is no problem in the case of David. It will take 50% of the amount paid by ANS! ”admitted Ionuț Popa, according to Golazo.ro.
Popovici's salary, confidential: “David is very well paid!”
In 2024, the Dinamo club had a budget of approximately 27.7 million euros, almost 90% of this amount coming from the state, in the form of subsidies.
Ionuț Popa did not want David Popovici's salary to be revealed in the press.
“They are confidential figures. I do not want to be sued. He is not a club employee, he has a service contract, so David does not know what salary. His father deals with it.
David is very well paid, as he value. Take the maximum salary that the legislation provides for, that I can tell you.
The idea is that we have almost estimated 4 million euros our own revenues this year. 20 million lei. We, theoretically, can fit David's salary at our own income and do not enter the subsidy from the state budget.
