Rahaman Ali, the brother of the famous boxer Muhammad Ali, died on Friday, August 1, at the age of 82. Like his brother, Rahaman practiced boxing, fighting in the heavy category, where he had a balance of 14 wins, 3 defeats and an equal.

This weekend, the American press announced the death of Rahaman Ali, Muhammad Ali's younger brother, who is considered the best boxer in history in the heavy category. He died 2 weeks after reaching the age of 82.

Born a year and a half after his brother, Rahaman stepped on his footsteps and practiced the box. His professional career began on February 25, 1964, in a duel won with Johnson face, and ended on September 13, 1972, after a defeat with Jack O'Halloran.

During the 8 years of his career, the American boxer had a balance of 14 wins, 3 defeats and one equal. After his withdrawal in 1972, Rahaman continued to train with Muhammad until 1981, when he decided to finish his career.

“You can't tell Muhammad's story without mentioning Rahaman. He was one of the most constant sources of support for Muhammad during his career and their relationship was a real example of what it means to be “your brother's guardian”“, Devone Holt, the president and CEO of the Muhammad Ali center, quoted by ESPN, said.

According to the same publication, in the last 12 years, Rahaman Ali has published 2 biographical books about him and his brother. The first one appeared in 2014 and was called “This is Muhammad Ali's brother! My life in the shadow”, and the second appeared in 2019, being entitled “My brother, Muhammad Ali: definitive biography”.

Muhammad Ali is considered the best pugilist in history in the heavy category, his career stretching from 1960 to 1981. He had a balance of 56 victories and 5 defeatsbeing legend the duels with other famous boxers such as Joe Frazier or George Foreman.

Muhammad died on June 3, 2016, at the age of 74, after a long fight with Parkinson's disease.
