In the 100-meter free sample, David Popovici returned the second to 50 meters, but on the second length of the basin he shone right. He managed to get a time from 46.51 seconds, registering a new record in the history of CM. The Romanian has removed the second best time in history, after Pan Zhanle's world record (46.40 seconds). In the percent final, Popovici was followed on the podium by American Jack Alexy (46.92 seconds) and Australian Kyle Chalmers (47.17 seconds).

Following the two successes of the caliber, David the Great will be rewarded by the National Sports Agency, but also by the representatives of World Aquatics.

Rewards of the order of hundreds of thousands for Popovici

World Aquatics will give the Romanian 40,000 euros as a reward for the two gold medals obtained at the CM 2026. Moreover, the Romanian swimmer will receive a gift from the National Sport Agency.

According to ANS regulation, a gold medal at the World Championships, in an Olympic test, is rewarded with 21,000 euros. In this case, the amount received by Popovici will double, so that the Romanian managed to obtain the gold twice, both at the 100 -meter free and 200 meters sample.

And the total amount could increase even more. The Romanian Sport Law provides for the possibility that the ANS president or the chairman of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee will approve the doubling of the prize granted for winning medals to major international competitions. Therefore, Popovici could receive 84,000 euros from the Romanian state.

Come money and from Dinamo

Moreover, David Popovici should also be rewarded by the Dinamo Bucharest club, in which he is legitimized, but his representatives have not yet made an announcement in this regard. In conclusion, David Popovici's performance will be rewarded with an amount between 82,000 and 124,000 euros, without the possible financial reward from the club it represents.
