In mid -July, the Supreme Audit Office announced that it negatively assessed the creation of the Solidarity Heritage Institute, and the activity and financing of part of the institution's tasks as “not always correct and reliable”.

On Thursday, members of the NSZZ “Solidarność” National Committee issued an open letter signed by the chairman of “S” Piotr Duda, in which they emphasized that “with the highest indignation” they adopted the content of the post -audit NIK document regarding IDS activities.

“NIK found no deficiencies in the functioning of IDS. There is no question of any irregularities in spending public funds – this has been indisputable. Still, the Chamber instead of having to be appointed to what it was called – i.e. checking the legality, reliability and economy – it fits into the current political struggle” – wrote in the letter.

It was also indicated, among others, that nIK used subjective and biased opinions and selective selection of facts. “The whole document gives the impression of a political order of environments that have been falsifying the stories of NSZZ” Solidarity “under the banner of the European Solidarity Center for years,” it was emphasized in the letter.

The Agreement appointing IDS, as a joint undertaking of NSZZ Solidarność and MKDin, was signed in the historic BHP Hall of Gdańsk Shipyard during the celebration of the 39th anniversary of August '80 in 2019. The document was signed by the chairman of “S” Piotr Duda and the then Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage Jarosław Sellin. “The mission of the Solidarity Heritage Institute is the popularization of the phenomenon and importance of NSZZ” Solidarność “and the Solidarity Social Movement in Poland and the international arena” – we read in the information on the Institute's website.

In 2024, the Ministry of Culture terminated NSZZ “Solidarność” a contract for co -management of the Institute with effect on December 31, 2025 – then the institution is to become a state cultural institution, run only by the Ministry of Culture. (PAP)
