A drone of the Russian forces hit a civil bus on Sunday in the Sumî region of northeastern Ukraine, killing three people and hurting several other people, local officials said, according to AFP.

Moscow forces have launched a record number of drones and rockets on Ukrainian cities in recent weeks, killing dozens of civilians.

On Sunday afternoon, “the enemy attacked a bus with civilians with a drone,” said the Prosecutor's Office on Telegram, along with images with the destroyed vehicle.

“Three civilians were killed,” said the Prosecutor's Office, mentioning that the victims were all women, between the ages of 66 and 78.

Ukraine has in turn intensified response against Russia.

In the Leningrad region of the northwest of Russia, “a man died in a fire caused by UAV fragments (unmanned aircraft, or drone, no),” said the governor of the region, Aleksandr Drozdenko, on Telegram, adding that three other people were injured.

Ukraine proposed a Zelenski-Putin summit

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, pleaded for organizing a summit with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. Kiev proposed to take place these discussions by the end of August.

On Friday, according to Reuters, the Kremlin declared a summit between Vladimir Putin and Volodimir Zelenski can only take place as a final step to seal a peace agreement.

The Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said that such a meeting would take place until the end of August, as Ukraine proposed.

The two parties have radically different positions at the negotiating table, and Ukraine accused Russia of sending only lower rank officials, without decision -making power.

Russia, which controls about one fifth of the Ukrainian territory, asked Ukraine to effectively give up four regions that Moscow claims to annexed, a request that Kiev called unacceptable. To these regions are added Crimea, which the Russians have annexed since 2014.
