The unusual petition went to the desk of the mayor of Zakopane Łukasz Filipowicz. The author calls for the creation of “Robokonia” and “Robomisia” as new symbols of culture under the Tatra Mountains. The petition will be proceeded. Such robots are a real and attractive form of education – assess the science popularizers.

– This petition is an appeal for awakening … Sobering may be greater for this commune council, so that it understands that the source of conflicts lies directly in some omissions … Maybe underfunding, lack of a program, strategy – we read in the justification of the petition.
Among the detailed proposals were, among others The functions that such “kids” should perform – electric or even atomic drive, realistic sound and visual effects, the possibility of interaction by the mobile application and attractive, “CepSer -Futouristic” appearance. The author suggests that technical universities engage in the project, and make structures from materials referring to local craftsmanship – e.g. wood.

The petition also includes comparisons and provocations. Its author points out that in Arab countries robots have long replaced people in camel races. There is also a suggestion that the mayor of Zakopane “has dialogue and insight” just where tradition and technology go hand in hand.
Although the idea seems absurd, experts emphasize that technology today allows the implementation of such solutions.
– Robotics is a very dynamically developing field of science. There are already four -legged machines that move efficiently and are used not only in crisis situations, but also in social contacts – said Katarzyna Nowicka from the Copernicus Science Center.
He adds that in Copernicus, among others Robotic Spot dog, which every visitors can control themselves. Such contact with the robot is to get us used to modern technology: – It seems to me that the robots are robots and differ from living animals is an advantage, and communing with a robotic quadruped is even a more interesting attraction. Live animals can be known in other circumstances that do not harm their well -being – the expert notes.
In her opinion, a robot stylized as a teddy bear or horse, especially set in a local cultural context, could be both a tourist attraction and a form of modern education.
Although the Copernicus Science Center does not design robots independently, it indicates the growing number of universities and companies that deal with it. – You can think about cooperation with the local polytechnic – it would be an interesting project combining culture, technique and regional identity – emphasizes Nowicka.
The mayor of Zakopane Łukasz Filipowicz confirmed that the document was registered as an official petition. – Many interesting letters are received by the office, but this definitely is distinguished by inventiveness. I appreciate the author's ingenuity, although of course the implementation of such attractions goes beyond the competences of the city hall – said PAP Filipowicz.
As the mayor pointed out, the petition will be directed to the Commission of Complaints and Petitions, in accordance with applicable procedures. – If one day such inventions actually appear in public space, we will think about them – added Filipowicz.
The letter was published in the Public Information Bulletin. It is not yet known when the municipal self -government committee will consider it. Although the petition has the form of a joke, it also contains a number of more serious reflections on the direction of Zakopane's development and the collision of tradition with modernity. (PAP)
