Barcelona, invited to the World Club Championship! Was chosen to the detriment of Fuchse and Flensburg

Barcelona received the Wild Card from the International Handball Federation to participate in the 18th edition of the World Club Championship. The competition will take place in Egypt, between September 26 and October 2.

5 times winner of the World Club Championship, the last time in 2019, Barcelona was invited by IHF to this year's edition.

Barcelona was chosen to the detriment of Fuchse and Flensburg

The Catalan club was in competition with German bands Fuchse Berlin and Flensburg Handit to receive the invitation.

Fuchse was finalist last season in the Champions League, and Flensburg won EHF European League.

The teams in Europe are favorite at the World Club Championship

The competition in Egypt will attend 9 teams, divided into 3 groups of 3: Zamalek (Egypt) – host, Veszprem (Hungary) – champion in Titre, Magdeburg (Germany) – winner of the Champions League, Sharijah (United Arab Emirates) – Asia, Al AHLY (Egypt), Africa, Taubate (Brazil) – South and Central America, California Eagles (USA) – North and Cariabe Sydney (Australia) – Oceania, Barcelona (Spain) – invited.

The draw of the 3 groups will be done in August during the Male Youth Championship in Egypt.

Veszprem won last year and $ 350,000

Last year, Veszprem defeated Magdeburg in the final with 34-33, after the extensions. The Hungarian band received a prize of $ 350,000, and Magdeburg $ 100,000.

The 3rd place was occupied by the Egyptian team of Ahly who defeated her for the Bronze Medal on Barcelona, score 32-29. Al Ahly was awarded $ 50,000.
